Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Principal Investigator
Principal Investigator's Name: AmirHussein Abdolalizadeh
Institution: Student's Scientific Research Center
Department: Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Research Program
Proposed Analysis: There's a strong genetic background underlying the Alzheimer's Disease and it's associated disabilities, mostly cognitive functions. In the present study we're trying to find the imaging correlations of the genetic biomarkers in both AD and healthy controls to identify genetic risk factors affecting brain function and structure that may predispose a otherwise healthy brain into an Alzheimer's disease malfunctioning brain. In the first step, we will analyze the SNPs of APOE gene and the imaging findings associated with them in healthy population (e.g. using VBM). We're also trying to find the effects of serum biomarkers and genetic factors on the atrophy of the brain using longitudinal VBM in AD patients.
Additional Investigators
Investigator's Name: Bahram Mohajer
Proposed Analysis: Bahram will do our imaging part using FreeSurfer's longitudinal pipeline.
Investigator's Name: Nooshin Abbasi
Proposed Analysis: Nooshin will do the longitudinal pipeline using SPM12 and FSL's SIENA.
