Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Principal Investigator's Name: Andrea Avena-Koenigsberger
Institution: Indiana University
Department: Psychological and Brain Sciences
Proposed Analysis: Our aim is to study the spread and accumulation of tau and amyloid-beta, by using a variety of diffusion-based models implemented on networks of anatomical connections (obtained from diffusion weighted imaging). Building on previous work by Raj et al. (2012, 2015), we will test a family of parametrized diffusion operators as possible mechanisms driving the spread and effects of disease factors known to be related with the onset of AD.
