| Proposed Analysis: | I would like to investigate neurocognitive biomarkers predictive of disease progression and cognitive decline in AD. The initial study we wish to pursue is an examination of potential noradrenergic influences on amyloid accumulation and cognitive decline by capitalizing on pharmaceutical interventions to treat anxiety and depressive symptoms. In particular, we wish to examine whether the use of selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) compared to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) is associated with lower CSF concentration of beta amyloid (a direct result of reduced glymphatic clearance), general beta-amyloid pathology in the brain, and increased incidence of cognitive decline. |
