Proposed Analysis: | In the task of disease progression, we are often interested in different disease manifestations, often called subtypes. Whether through genetic, environmental, or other causes, diseases like Alzheimer's Disease can affect patients in varying ways. Additionally, the question of alignment of trajectories complicates the discovery of subtypes. Since we don't have a concrete "beginning" of a disease, aligning the true trajectories while learning subtypes can be challenging. We seek to develop methods that will disentangle both subtype and disease trajectory. This will allow clinicians to give more accurate prognoses and inform future research about the disease subtypes. |
