Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Proposed Analysis: My focus is on the statistical analysis of the three-way associations between genetic variants, imaging phenotype and disease. I propose two novel frameworks for jointly modeling the imaging, genomic and disease data. These two proposals are developed from my existing work, and are modified carefully to accommodate the specific needs of the imaging genomic association studies. In the first framework, I aim to identify both image voxels and genetic polymorphisms that are predictive of the vulnerability to disease, and characterize their inter-relationships using a fast and efficient regression method. In the second framework, I expect to identify genetic polymorphisms which are able to explain not only the absolute quantity of imaging voxels, but also their spatial dependence, characterized by brain functional connectivity.
