Question

Question Posted 03/01/17:
Dear ADNI Biomarker Core,

We are a team of investigators from the University of California, San Diego interested in examining glucose levels and diabetic status in relation to AD markers in ADNI. We know that ADNI does a blood draw on participants (described on page 34 of attached protocol), but we can not find information as to whether this blood draw occurs after a fast and, if so, how long this fast was. This is an important consideration for us since we are looking at diabetic status. We see from the data dictionary that ADNI has measures of serum glucose on most participants (RCTII variable in the LABDATA table). Can we assume that the serum glucose measure came from this overall blood draw? We would much appreciate any information you have on this subject or another contact that we could reach out to.

Thanks,

Erin Sundermann

The routine glucose measures are done together with other routine lab tests on non-fasting serum samples.
