Principal Investigator
Principal Investigator's Name: Andrew Zalesky
Institution: The University of Melbourne
Department: Medicine
Country:
Proposed Analysis: We will analyze patient and healthy control structural brain images. The healthy control data will be used to "harmonize" the ADNI data to a normative model that we have already established. Regional cortical thickness estimates will be estimated with established neuroimaging software (FreeSurfer). Automated image quality control and segmentation pipelines will be implemented. Each individual's cortical thickness estimates will be provided to an established normative model of brain ageing to compute an estimate of biological brain age. Biological age can differ from chronological age and the difference between the two is called the age gap. The age gap for individuals with MCI or AD will be compared to age gaps estimated for similar cohorts using other datasets. The study aims to establish whether structural brain changes associated with MCI and AD can be linked with accelerated brain ageing.

Investigator's Name: Ye Tian
Proposed Analysis: As described above - this is a joint project: Regional cortical thickness estimates will be estimated with established neuroimaging software (FreeSurfer). Investigator's Name: Yalda Yalda Amirmoezzi
Proposed Analysis: Student. Yalda will map rate of change in the brain age gap scores that we have computed. She will also assist with ongoing analyses.
Investigator's Name: Warda Syeda
Proposed Analysis: Warda intends to compute affinity scores for individuals using a novel methodology that she recently developed.
