Proposed Analysis: | AD/MCI are characterized by local volume shrinks around the medial temporal lobes or hippocampus. However, these parameters do not include information related with directional deformation, for which it has been poorly understood about the question whether neuro-degeneration in AD/MCI is isotropic or anisotropic. Finite strain theory of continuum mechanics provide 6 additional parameters related with direction deformation (3 normal strains and 3 shear strains) to JD. We will investigate whether new imaging biomarkers derived from biomechanical frame work are able to provide clinically meaningful information in MCI prevention/progression. Longitudinal ANDI dataset will be analyzed with the proposed method to characterize normal aging process and MCI progression, respectively. |
