Question
Question Posted 10/09/24:
Hello,
I was wondering if the images in ADNI are those typically collected in standard clinical care or if they are from research projects (so may be more detailed sequences etc). Also is it known what percentage of MRI submissions are rejected for quality issues? Thank you.

Thank you for your question to the ADNI MRI Core.
The ADNI MRI protocol is considered a clinical research study, so although the sequences are part of a research study, many are also performed clinically for a variety of purposes. To your point, all scans done for ADNI are considered research where the participants are consented to have the ADNI MRI protocol as well as many other clinical and research measurements performed on them.
There is detailed quality control assessments available through the LONI website, but in general a very small percentage of scans (less than 1%) fail for quality related issues.
