Question

Question Posted 12/13/24:
I am currently analyzing the ADNI dataset, specifically the "diagnostic summary" section. However, I noticed that the DXCHANGE notation has been removed in the recent update. My aim is to identify participants who converted from MCI to AD. To achieve this, I attempted to compare the BCPRED variable (pre-visit diagnosis) with the DIAGNOSE variable (current diagnosis) to observe conversions before and after visits.

Unfortunately, my observations indicate that the research groups remain constant, with no evident conversions. I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify the following points:

Could there be an alternative method or variable within the updated dataset to track diagnostic conversions effectively?
Is there any documentation or guidance available that might help address this issue?

We suggest you use the DIAGNOSIS variable and reference the Data Dictionary which provides details about variables that have been mapped for harmonization. For DXCHANGE, the annotation is, "Mapped to DIAGNOSIS".
