Question
Question Posted 06/20/25:
In the PTDEMOG sheet, some values for the column "PTRACCAT" are not single values, but two values separated by a pipe, e.g. "4|5". How should these values be interpreted? There is no mention of this type of value in the data dictionary. Thank you.

The PTRACCAT field is based on participant self-report, and participants in ADNI4 have the option to select more than one option. Entries formatted along the lines of x|y indicate that the participant selected both options x and y in the questionnaire - so, in this case, 4|5 indicates that the participant identified as both Black and White. In previous phases, such responses were recorded as 6 (more than one race).
