Question
Question Posted 01/27/15:
Are the MR images where it is possible to reconstruct the face already defaced? If so, what technology has been used for the defacement?
Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your question to the ADNI MRI Core.
Currently, we don't believe ADNI or LONI is defacing the MRI images. Please let us know if you are seeing otherwise.
That being said, this process would be done to ensure subject privacy/anonymization and this would typically done by an extraction tool that would remove all data from the selected portion of the image. Once the data is removed there is no way to re-render it. Additionally, if the scanning FOV did not cover the facial area that data would never have been collected, thus unavailable.
Thank you
