| Proposed Analysis: | We are currently investigating methods to perform brain segmentation on T1 Weighted MRI images. We have already developed some software that segments the brain, based on a grey matter atlas in T1- weighted MRI images, and we are now exploring the opportunities to incorporate machine learning techniques. One potential application of such a solution would be to measure and track the volume of brain structures in people with neurodegenerative diseases. With that application in mind we would like to be able to test the robustness of the different algorithms to pathological changes seen in such diseases. The ADNI dataset would allow us to test robustness to pathological changes seen in Alzheimer’s disease as well as test robustness across scanner manufacturer. |
