Proposed Analysis: | I am studying a gene that, when mutated, is known to cause dementia. Variation in a regulatory site in the 3' untranslated region is associated with reduced expression of this gene and increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. I hypothesize that non-coding variants that reduce expression of this gene are also associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Using bioinformatic methods, I have predicted the locations of regulatory regions in which variation is likely to alter expression of our gene of interest. I would like to access your Alzheimer's disease patient whole genome sequence database to determine if variants in these regulatory regions are enriched in Alzheimer's patients. |
