Principal Investigator
Principal Investigator's Name: Brian Neal
Institution: San Francisco State University
Department: Mathematics
Proposed Analysis: I am a graduate student in the MA Mathematics program at San Francisco State University; I am currently conducting my master's thesis research under the advisement of faculty member Dr. Tao He. Our research concerns the development of new statistical methodology for testing the association between a gene set and a multivariate phenotype in high-dimensional data. We wish to apply our method to currently-available preliminary data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative as a way of demonstrating and evaluating the utility of our proposed test. We are currently considering conducting a case study similar to the one found in the following paper (also using ADNI data), in which the volumes of five cortical regions were used as a multivariate phenotype (motivated by the relationship between brain atrophy and AD): Deng Y, He T, Fang R, Li S, Cao H and Cui Y (2020). Genome-wide Gene-Based Multi-Trait Analysis. Front. Genet. 11:437. doi:10.3389/fgene.2020.00437 We intend to submit our research to a journal for publication in the future, in compliance with all items contained in the ADNI data use agreement.
