Ongoing Investigations

ADNI data is made available to researchers around the world. As such, there are many active research projects accessing and applying the shared ADNI data. To further encourage Alzheimer’s disease research collaboration, and to help prevent duplicate efforts, the list below shows the specific research focus of the active ADNI investigations. This information is requested annually as a requirement for data access.

Principal Investigator's Name: Mikhail Belyaev
Institution: Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology
Department: Center for Data Intensive Science and Engineering
Proposed Analysis: As data scientists, we plan to perform a set of machine learning experiments to separate two groups of subjects: lMCI (or probably all MCI subjects) and AD. Them we plan to use the probability of classification as an indicator and track values of this indicator over time. Our hypothesis is that we'll see that the indicator increases for those MCI subjects who convert into AD patients in several years. So, our final goal is to highlight the subgroup of MCI subjects with a high probability of AD development. From the technical point of view, we plan to start with non-imaging data and then step by step incorporate other modalities. For T1 images we plan to use deep learning methods, for fMRI and DTI, we plan to build functional and structural connectomes and use them to extract features.
