Proposed Analysis: I am currently a postdoc within the research group of Prof. Alain Goriely, Oxford. We are currently developing and extending network-based models of dementia progression coupled to mechanical models of atrophy. Such models utilise an augmented Smoluchowski perspective on a connectome generated from MRI data to track the spread of amyloid beta and phosphorylated tau; in turn related these quantities to morphoelastic atrophic deformation of the brain tissue. We are interested in potential utilisation of the longitudinal ADNI data set in order to examine the accuracy and predictive power of these models. The ADNI data set provides data for both MCI and AD patients alongside MRI, DTI, and PET images that could prove useful for validating current approaches and developing new open source software and mathematical methods. Potential use of ADNI/AIBL/ADNIDOD data would be done under the auspices of knowledge development subject to the following grant: Grant Ref: EP/R020205/1

Investigator's Name: Alain Goriely
Proposed Analysis: Prof. Goriely oversees the research effort in the multiscale modelling and mathematical methods for brain development, trauma, and diseases. The longitudinal ADNI (and related) data may be an insightful data set for the validation and further development of the overall effort.
