Proposed Analysis: We seek to investigate the transportability of algorithms predicting the diagnosis of Alzheimers using concepts from causal inference. Building up on the study of Piccininni et al. (https://doi.org/10.1186/s12874-020-01058-z) we will first draw a Directed-acyclic graph (DAG) including factors and their relationships determining AD onset. In a second stage we want to use ADNI data to estimate the distribution of factors, quantify of their relationships and use those for a predictive model. Next, we will simulate data from this scenario but change distribution of exogenous variables to mimic new population data and compute the predictive power of a diagnostic algorithm on this data and investgate the transportability of the model.
