Proposed Analysis: | Hello, I am a MSc student in the School of Computing at Queen's University. My area of study is machine learning and its applications. This semester I am taking a course titled "Medical Imaging and Machine Learning" in which we have a term project where we can select any problem area to investigate. I have an interest in Alzheimer's data because of its impact on my family. I read some papers on early detection of Alzheimer's and was specifically interested in the paper "Early Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Novel Approach Combining Convolutional Neural Networks and Ensemble Learning" by Pan et. al (2020), in which the researchers used their novel stratified bagging CNN on ADNI MRI data. For my term project, I would like to reimplement the CNN architecture used in the mentioned study, and compare and contrast the advantages of different ensemble learning techniques for Alzheimer's classification. |
