Proposed Analysis: | Deep Learning (DL) has proven to recognise very subtle biomarkers much better, as it is based on feature learning, not on feature design. With the recent advances in DL algorithms we are expecting to identify brain imaging markers (such as silent brain infarcts, cerebral microbleeds, white matter lesions, brain tissue volume, intracranial volume, perivascular spaces), but also complex contextual features, which may reflect the brain changes related to Alzheimer Disease (AD). For the segmentation of the lesions will be made using the following softwares: FSL, Freesurfer or SPM. Using advanced Deep Learning algorithms (both supervised and unsupervised), we plan to identify AD biomarkers besides the one that are manually crafted by the medical specialists. Moreover, a longitudinal analysis will be made on the data, in order to identify AD biomarkers. The results obtained on the data will be published in a radiology AI journal. |
