Proposed Analysis: | Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology is typically present in the pre-clinical phases of the disease. One substantiated biomarker for AD pathology pertains to levels of the protein, tau, in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF tau). Standardized, brief measures of cognitive functioning (e.g., Mini Mental Status Exam [MMSE]) have historical value in identifying emerging AD. Little is known about the differences in diagnostic validity between CSF tau and the MMSE in those already diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (e.g., MCI). The objective of this study is to determine whether CSF tau or the MMSE is a better predictor of AD symptoms at baseline in those diagnosed with MCI. Proposed analyses include a multiple linear regression. |
