| Proposed Analysis: | The presence of cardiovascular risk factors increases susceptibility to cerebrovascular damage (i.e., ischemic injury). In the present study, we plan to analyze differences in brain injury-related biomarkers, such as GAP-43 and NfL, in individuals with Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment, while stratifying for cardiac risk factors. In addition, we will comprehensively assess the relationship between injury markers, signs of ischemic brain damage (e.g., severity of white matter hyperintensity), as well as cognition in this patient population. |
