Proposed Analysis: In practice, the brain is best represented by multiple networks arising from different imaging modalities. I intend on using fMRI, MRI and DTI data to create morphometric similarity maps between AD patient and healthy controls (to assess atrophy in each region). I will use graph neural networks for the fMRI MRI and DTI data to create ROI importance maps. I will use a multimodal GNN (MM-GNN) model that incorporates multiple types of neuroimaging-based brain connectivity. The resulting ROI importance maps have the potential to shed light on the biological mechanisms of Alzheimer's. partial least squares regression could be used to associate multi-modal ROI importance scores with spatial transcriptomic data to assess which genes are most strongly expressed in these regions, and therefore which biological pathways might be implicated.
