Proposed Analysis: | Good afternoon, My name is Jacob Way. I am a student at University of California San Diego. I am currently attending their Machine Learning program in preparation for a career change from the military into machine learning and data science. I am respectfully requesting access to your Alzheimer's dataset in order to train a neural network on how to recognize Alzheimer's progression in MRI images. I am not developing anything novel and serves only to demonstrate the effectiveness of different types of Machine Learning solutions on this particular problem. I will use this algorithm to build my professional portfolio that I can showcase when I apply for a machine learning positions in the medical field. I recently lost both of my parents/guardians to Alzheimer's which has motivated to approach Alzheimer's specifically with Machine Learning. I am seeking data from your institution since many of the publicly available datasets for Alzheimer's do not have sufficient data to train neural networks to the standards expected by the UCSD ML program. This data will be used in my Machine Learning program's capstone, that requires a minimum of 15,000 observations. The data used to train the model will never be publicly facing, nor serve any commercial interest. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I appreciate your time. Respectfully Sent, Jacob C. Way Machine Learning Student at UCSD Extension US Marine Communications Officer |
