Proposed Analysis: | Neuropsychiatric symptoms are common among elderly patients with dementia and can have a significant impact on their quality of life. Despite the prevalence of neuropsychiatric symptoms, biomarkers for these symptoms have not yet been identified. Recent research has suggested that functional and structural changes in the brain may be associated with these symptoms. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between neuropsychiatric symptoms and imaging data, specifically using fMRI and MRI, in the ADNI cohort. Methodology: We will collect imaging data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) cohort, focusing on data that includes the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI) or Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Our analysis will primarily focus on longitudinal follow-up of patients who developed neuropsychiatric symptoms to examine if there are notable changes in imaging modalities. We will use statistical analysis to identify potential biomarkers for neuropsychiatric symptoms and assess the relationship between these symptoms and functional and structural brain changes detected through fMRI and MRI data. |
