Proposed Analysis: We aim to conduct a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to study the genetic risk variants and methylation profiles of Alzheimer’s disease patients with or without cerebrovascular disease. We will further identify the relationship between the genetic biodata of these patients with their molecular biomarkers (eg. beta amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tau tangles), imaging (eg. MRI and PET scans) and biospecimens (eg. blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid). Findings from this study will also be compared with the genetic biodata and biomarkers of our Singaporean cohort, consisting mainly of ethnic Chinese, Malays and Indians. This study will contribute to the Alzheimer’s disease field by elucidating the similarities and differences in the genetic risk variants and methylation profiles of Alzheimer’s disease patients with or without cerebrovascular disease across different ethnic groups.
