Proposed Analysis: | Our project aims to advance the field by developing an automated tool for detecting Focal Cortical Dysplasia (FCD) in patients with medication-resistant seizures, using FDG-PET scans only. In order to accomplish this, we propose using diffusion models in order to identify abnormalities in FDG-PET brain images. It is, however, crucially important to have access to normal FDG-PET scans from healthy individuals in order to employ the diffusion model effectively. These scans serve as a reference to understand the latent representations of healthy brain activity. By comparing FDG-PET scans of FCD patients to those of normal brains, it is possible to identify distinct patterns and markers associated with FCD. Our research relies on the availability of normal FDG-PET scans in order to establish a comprehensive and accurate baseline for comparison. |
