Proposed Analysis: | Brain age prediction utilizing deep learning to estimate risk scores for patients and analyze areas of the brain with importance to outcomes. Our research utilizes deep learning methods on 3D MRI images, with two goals. The first is to implement an accurate brain age prediction model, which predicts a patient's chronological age from their brain MRI. This predicted age is called 'Brain Age'. From this, we can create a score, which is the delta between their age and brain age, and further correlate this to patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. The second goal is to implement explainability methods into the model to detect which regions of the brain contribute the most to aging and disease risks. |
