Proposed Analysis: | We would to obtain ADNI demographic and neuropsychological test result data of unaffected control subjects. We are currently conducting an observational study of patients with sporadic inclusion body myositis (IBM). The study title is "IBM- deep phenotyping to improve diagnosis and treatment" led by Dr Pedro Machado, University College London. The neuropsychological profile of patients with IBM has never been systematically characterised. We intend to prospectively assess the neuropsychological profile of patients with IBM participating in this study using the same neuropsychological battery of tests used in ADNI. We would like to use the neuropsychological profile of age, gender and education matched unaffected ADNI control subjects for comparison. We anticipate to characterise the neuropsychological profile of 70 patients with IBM over the next 1-2 years. The study will provide quantitative data on the cognitive profile of patients with IBM for the first time and may detect the presence of cognitive deficits so far unknown to treating clinicians. |
