Proposed Analysis: | Weight loss is commonly obeserved in AD - even in early stages - and is associated with cognitive decline and poor outcome. Hypothalamic dysfunction is being discussed as a potential pathophysiological mechanism. Therefore we propose to investigate the longitudinal dynamics of AD neuroimaging biomarkers(FDG-PET, Amyloid PET) in relation to changes in body weight with an emphasis on early AD stages. Comparing weight stable subjects vs. subjects with weight loss (MCI and AD)we furthermore aim to perform volumetric analyses and connectivity analyses with the hypothalamus as specific region of interest, using structural and functional MRI data. |
