Proposed Analysis: | We aim to identify imaging correlates of cognitively-defined subtypes of Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, we will focus on differences in regional gray matter volumes to assess atrophy patterns between subtypes. MR images will be segmented into gray matter, white matter and CSF volumes using SPM12. DARTEL is used to generate a study-specific template by aligning gray matter images nonlinearly to a common space. Gray matter images will be spatially normalized from native space to the DARTEL template using individual flow fields. Modulation is applied to preserve total amount of signal, and images are smoothed using an 8mm full-width-at-half-maximum isotropic Gaussian kernel. The subsequent smoothed, weighted and modulated gray matter images will be used to perform voxel-wise contrasts between groups of patients and between patients and controls. |
