Proposed Analysis: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease in the ederly.Genetic risk factor is the largest risk factor for AD besides age. Recent genome wide association studies (GWASs) have identified over a dozen of risk genes and thousands of risk alleles for AD,however, it is still difficult to distinguish real causal variants/genes from hitchhiking genes/variants. With various levels of data generously provided by ADNI, we're able to annotate previous GWAS data in a much more refined way. We will combine congnitive assesment data and AD biomarker data(abeta, Tau, and pTau et al.,) with genotyping data from ADNI to identify variants associated with congnitive or AD biomarker alterations. Then the association results will be used to filter GWAS results to find GWAS risk variants which may influence cognition or AD biomarker levels.
