Proposed Analysis: Amyloid-beta (Aβ), a main constituent of senile plaque in Alzheimer disease, is known to be neurotoxic. In our research, the ipsilateral thalamus after cerebral infarction in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory in Rats, Aβ accumulated abnormally and aggregated to plaque-like deposits for up to 9 months after MCA occlusion. In two longitudinal diffusion tensor imaging studies, a significant increase in mean diffusivity was noted in the ipsilateral thalamus 1 to 6 months after MCA infarction, whereas fractional anisotropy (FA) remained unchanged. Our purpose is to explore the different mechanisms of brain function connections between dementia patients and patients with cerebral ischemia.
