Proposed Analysis: We are interested in determining the correlation between Alzheimer's disease patients' objective cognitive deficits, subjective cognitive/functional impairment, and informant/caregiver report of patient cognitive/functional impairment. The purpose of such an analysis would be to determine the sensitivity and specificity of informant/caregiver and patient self-report in detecting cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease. In clinical practice, periodic administration of objective measurements of cognition (ie MOCA,MMSE) are recommended to primary care physicians (generalists, community psychiatrists) when new concerns arise from a patient him/herself or from an informant. If self and informant report are found to poorly correlate with cognitive decline, routine periodic cognitive testing may be indicated clinically in this patient population. The specific analysis we propose is as follows; using the ADNI2 data, in Alzheimer's Disease patients, at baseline, 6 months, and 18 months, correlate objective cognitive function (as measured by MOCA, MMSE, ADAS-COG, and Clinical Dementia Rating) with informant/caregiver report (as measured by Ecog, ADL/FAQ), and self report (as measured by ECog-self report, Cognitive change index self report). In addition to cross-sectional correlations, we would also correlate change in the above measures (delta) between baseline and 6 months, baseline and 18 months, and 6 and 18 months. We would control for neuropsychiatric symptoms (using NPI) and sub-syndromal depressive symptoms (using GDS).
