Proposed Analysis: Evaluation of the role of polymorphic variability in two sets of genes (set1: brain regulatory genes , set2: genes related to postsynaptic activity) on shaping the functional brain connectivity in healthy and MCI individuals (merged sample). Methods: Genetic info from several hundred SNPs which are known to be related to each of the two gene sets will be used to build predictive models of functional connectivity (summarized by individual connectivity matrices [correlation matrices]). These models will be based on different types of machine learning algorithms (mainly ridge and lasso regressions, random forests and gradient boosting). If these models show some degree of predictive power, methods to evaluate the relative weight of the SNPs involved will be further applied.

Proposed Analysis: As a geneticist, Dra. Fatjo-Vilas will be in charge of selecting the list of candidate SNPs for each set of genes (brain regulatory and postsynaptic). She will also help in the interpretation of results.
