Proposed Analysis: Genetic risk factors for MRI based outcomes and their correlation with vascular risk factors and related disorders. Increased prevalence of vascular risk factors can lead to cerebral small vessel diseases, breach in blood-brain barrier and affect certain areas of the brain. Many times, the MRI markers of such vascular injury in the brain are precursors to major health hazard like stroke and dementia. Understanding the genetic risk factors of cerebral vascular injury can lead to better understanding of underling pathways and molecular processes. There is also a strong genetic overlap between these cerebral vascular injuries. In this work we would like to identify genetic risk factors of various MRI based outcomes and correlate them using genome wide association data and check for overlaps with other vascular risk factors of related disease outcomes. Results from the ADNI data set will also be contrasted against data of subjects from the Indian sub-continent to check for overlap and differential processes.
