Proposed Analysis: Previous studies have shown that the entorhinal cortex (ERC) is a good indicator used to distinguish between mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. However, current deep learning studies only look at the hippocampus to identify progression of Alzheimer’s disease. We want to use deep learning image segmentation techniques to isolate the hippocampus and ERC in MRI scans and use LSTMs to classify the stage of cognitive impairment of patients. Furthermore, as a second step, we want to predict the amount of time for progression from MCI to AD using deep learning techniques.
