Proposed Analysis: | We propose to study the differential brain functional network topology patterns in MCI subtypes derived from task-free functional MRI data in the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database. We hypothesize that the addition of brain functional network topology features will increase the accuracy of classifying MCI converters versus MCI non-converters as compared to merely using structural MRI, Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), and Positron Emission Topography (PET) data. Specifically, possible abnormalities in graph theoretical metrics namely centrality, shortest path to hubs, and clustering coefficient can be elucidated and hopefully able to shed some light into the pathophysiology behind certain disease-specific symptoms. |
