Proposed Analysis: | I am interested in investigating changes in structural connectivity between the medial prefrontal cortex, midline thalamus and hippocampus in typical aging, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease using probabilistic tractography. Using probabilistic tractography, we can obtain a connectivity index along a white matter pathway that reflects fiber organization. This is sensitive to pathological abnormalities contributing to disabilities. Investigating white matter tractography using DWI images provides opportunity to investigate differences in connectivity in typical aging, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Understanding these changes could improve our ability to predict age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. We already have typical aging and dementia DWI data, and are interested in doing similar analysis on ADNI Alzheimer’s Disease DWI data. |
