Proposed Analysis: Development and clinical trials for therapeutic agents for dementia, especially Alzheimer's disease (AD), are ongoing around the globe. The therapeutic agents might be effective for patients in the preclinical stage where there is no abnormality in cognitive function, and in the MCI (mild cognitive impairment) stage. Since there were no apparent subjective symptoms in both stages, it is difficult in recruiting patients for clinical trials and it might cause delay in drug development. The Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) has been conducting cohort studies targeting people in area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. It has comprehensive genetic, cognitive and psychological, and other health information with MRIs of the participants. Using the ToMMo cohort data with wide range of population regarding of age, gender, and other clinical background, stratification by stage and disease type (development of preclinical matching cohort) as well as construction of dementia detecting algorism will be studied. We aim to promote clinical trials by sharing data on clinical trials with medical and research institutions inside and outside of Japan, the pharmaceutical industry, and various cohorts of dementia.
