Proposed Analysis: | There is increasing literature suggesting an inverse association between two fatal illnesses: cancer and Alzheimer's disease (AD). Recent observational and epidemiological studies have shown that cancer history reduces the risk of AD, and vice versa. However, there is limited data on the relationship between cancer history and the hallmark pathophysiological changes that occur in AD including changes in beta-amyloid and tau deposition. The primary objectives of this study will be to (a) investigate whether such inverse associations exist in the ADNI cohorts and (b) to compare the expected duration of time until AD onset in participants with and without cancer history using survival analysis of age of MCI and AD diagnosis. |
