Proposed Analysis: | Although brain tissues are ideal for studying brain disorders such as AD, currently it still is not practical to obtain gene expression levels in brain tissues from living human subjects. On the other hand, because of the relative ease of measuring blood RNA levels, gene expression studies are often conducted in blood. Transcription factors (TFs) are proteins that bind DNA and facilitate the transcription of DNA into RNA. One important question is whether the transcription factors associated with AD are preserved across blood and brain tissues. In this project, we plan to analyze two large-scale brain and blood samples datasets and compare transcription factor activities associated with AD in brain and blood samples. ADNI data and ADNIMERGE R package will be used to select each subject's last visit gene expression data for blood sample analysis. |
