Proposed Analysis: I aim to investigate the relationship between the level of cerebral spinal fluid neurofilament light polypeptide (CSF NfL) and the clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), brain atrophy, and cortical amyloid protein level. Elucidating the role of CSF NfL in the neurodegeneration of sporadic Alzheimer's disease will help to evaluate and strengthen its potential to be a reliable AD biomarker (which would help with identifying early signs of or predisposition to Alzheimer's disease). The data for my project will come from the publicly accessible Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiatives (ADNI) database, which contains various neuroimaging, biospecimen, and clinical datasets. Processing, analyzing, and statistical modeling of morphological and molecular neuroimaging, cognitive and psychiatric measures, and biospecimen data will be performed using neuroimaging analysis tools. This project is funded by the Summer 2021 BrownConnect SPRINT UTRA awarded by Brown University. I am an undergraduate student conducting research as a member of the Oh Lab (PI: Dr. Hwamee Oh) under the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University.
