Proposed Analysis: Specific Aim #1. Test the hypothesis that APOE ε4 load moderates the relationship of delusions with dementia. In the OASIS dataset of dementia and MCI (n ~ 1000) and ADNI dataset, we will test if APOE status moderates the correlation between MMSE scores and presence of delusion(s). Specific Aim #2. We will examine the association between the MMSE scores and the structural alteration associated with APOE ε4 dose loading in the CA1 subregion of the hippocampus. We will examine 1) if those with endorsed delusions have atrophy in the CA1 region when compared to individuals who do not endorse delusions and 2) if atrophy in the CA1 subregion is related to or moderated by APOE status in individuals with delusions.
