Proposed Analysis: I am interested in how do certain brain regions such as the hypothalamus change in Alzheimer's disease (AD). To that end, for imaging data, I will segment out the hypothalamus and compare the those from healthy, mild cognitive impairment, and AD individuals. I will also correlate the hypothalamus imaging with clinical assessments and try to find out the factors that are significantly correlated with AD. Besides, I will use machine learning approaches to predict the disease progression based on the hypothalamus imaging data. We also in the process of performing deep sequencing on healthy and AD human individuals in the lab, so the ADNI dataset will be a very important complement to this project.
