Proposed Analysis: | I am a PhD student in the Laboratory for Clinical Neuroscience, led by Dr. Bryan Strange. My project is focused on the analysis of in vivo structural MRI in relation to post-mortem neuropathology in dementia patients. I am studying a cohort of dementia patients from Fundación CIEN, a research center in Madrid (Spain) which performs a multimodal longitudinal follow-up of dementia patients, as well as post-mortem histopathological diagnosis. I currently have data from approximately 60 patients, but given the heterogeneity of pathologies related to dementia and the cognitive state of the subjects which complicates the acquisition of scans of optimal quality, it would be very helpful for me to have access to additional MRI and neuropathology data. The ADNI is an incredibly valuable dataset, which includes MRI and neuropathology for some subjects as well as other additional markers, which could make a wonderful contribution to the analysis I am performing. Specifically, I wish to perform analysis of grey matter density by Voxel-Based-Morphometry, volumetry of hippocampal subfields, quantification of white matter lesions; and analyze these results in relation to various neuropathological variables, such as Braak and Thal stage, presence of TDP-34,lewy bodies and hippocampal sclerosis. |
