Proposed Analysis: | I am a Neurobiology Masters student at Northwestern University, investigating AD biomarkers in transgenic rat models for my graduate thesis. At Northwestern, I am working in Dr. John Disterhoft's lab and working in close collaboration with Dr. Robert Vassar and Dr. Jeffrey Savas. My thesis is focused on biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease and aging in transgenic rat models. While I am mainly conducting immunoassays and mass spectrometry on rat brain samples to research biomarkers, I am interested in comparing my data to those obtained from actual AD patients. My main biomarkers of interest are APOE, Ab1-38/Ab1-40/Ab1-42, phospho-tau, and neuroinflammatory markers such as GFAP, TREM2 and CD44. With ADNI datasets from AD patients, I am hoping to compare my biomarker results from transgenic rat brain tissue with those from human AD patients for further biomarker analysis and validation. The purpose for this request of access is intended for my graduate thesis and research on AD biomarkers and aging. |
