Proposed Analysis: We aim to explore the association of serum lipid profiles with MCI, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and PET biomarkers (e.g.,Ab, tau) among older adults. In this proposal, we plan to address following two questions: 1.: Are various serum lipid components differentially associated with PET biomarkers, the risk of MCI, and AD? 2.: Whether the APOE ε4 allele or use of lipid-lowering drugs modify the association between lipid profiles and cognitive impairment? We hypothesize that higher serum TC, TG, and LDL-C are associated with increasing risk of MCI and AD, while HDL-C concentration has a negative association with incidence of cognitive decline. In addition, we assume that the APOE ε4 allele and use of lipid-lowering drugs could modify the associations between lipid profiles and risk of AD.
