Proposed Analysis: Chronic pain patients often reported memory decline, Whether chronic pain is a risk factor for memory decline in the elderly has not been clarified. Hippocampus (HC) and its functional networks are known to be related to changes in memory with age. The purpose of this study was to explore whether the RSFC of the HC was different between chronic pain group and non chronic pain group, and whether this difference was related to memory decline. We used the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database to Exploring the relationship between chronic pain and memory decline (ADNI-MEM). Subjects in Chronic pain group for our study were selected by searching the “Concurrent Medications Log” for analgesic medications and indications. This region was defined as the seed for the RSFC analysis if the activation level was lower in the older adults in the pain group compared to the older adults in the no pain group. A whole-brain RSFC analysis was conducted with the seed region. The resulting correlation coefficients were normalized using a Fisher transformation and entered into a random effects analysis of variance (ANOVA) with pain(pain/no pain) and sex(male/female) as independent variables.Using descriptive statistics as well as univariate, multivariate and repeated measure ANOVA, we exploring the relationship between chronic pain and scores for memory.
