Proposed Analysis: | The goal of this project is to use existing FDG-PET scans to compare diabetic AD patients with healthy controls We hypothesize that hypometabolism in the brain is more prevalent in AD patients who have comorbid T2DM. Defective brain glucose metabolism will affect the ability of protein breakdown leading to abnormalities in beta-amyloid and tau proteins. Ultimately, it is important to understand how changes to potentially modifiable comorbidities - such as diabetes - may be useful in prevention of AD Dementia. |
